Ellie's First Dance Convention

7 of the 9 girls in her group

Ellie with her friend and roomate Livie

Ellie was chosen to be on the stage for one of the tap combo's they learned. She loved the tap teacher!

Ellie and I attended her first dance convention a few weekends ago. It was an experience for us! The week started with Ellie having the flu and missing almost an entire week of school, while I stressed that she would not be able to make it to the convention. Thankfully she was feeling much better by Thursday night and we were able to pack and get excited to go! We left the house at 6am (very early for us non-working people), picked up a friend and her Mom and drove downtown for a 7:30am start. The first day was dance class after class after class with a quick lunch and some shopping at the booths on breaks. After an exhausting day we watched the competition and cheered on her studio. Ellie's group did not compete this time.

After a brief sleep in the hotel we were up for 8am scholarship tryouts. I was proud of Ellie for going to the tryout and doing her best. A lot of the girls there were much more experienced, so just trying out made me happy. The rest of the day was filled with more classes and then a final show late that afternoon.

Overall it was a very tiring weekend for Ellie, but she did get to bond with some girls in her group and feel part of a big team. Maybe next time the actual dancing will improve, this time was just an experience.... Our next convention is in 3 weeks and we will be competing two numbers...wish us luck!
