Rick signed up to ring the bell for the Salvation Army for an hour downtown. We decided to make it a family trip and let the girls help. They were very excited leading up to the day. I picked Ellie up from school on her last day before break and we all headed downtown.
The plan was to have Ellie ring the bell with Rick the first 30 min and Ansley the second 30min while the remainder of us shopped around the mall. Ellie loved it and according to Rick she brought in quite a bit of money wearing her Santa hat and apron. Ansley was not quite as enthusiastic about the whole thing. I think she rang the bell for about 10seconds and then sit on the ground the rest of the time. It was a great experience for all because the girls learned what the people ringing the bell are doing and how it helps others.
Following the bell ringing we had a nice dinner downtown. Finally we walked around outside and over to the circle to see all the lights. We saw not only all the lights, but Santa riding a Harley. The older girls went over and talked to him, but were a little skeptical. Overall it was a fun family evening!
